Korok Ray, a Bitcoin researcher and Associate Professor at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, is set to launch The Bitcoin Research Institute, focusing on the exciting intersection of Bitcoin and artificial intelligence.

During the groundbreaking MicroStrategy World: Bitcoin for Corporations 2024 event, Ray highlighted how Bitcoin could revolutionize secure multi-party computation (MPC), using the example of poker players coming to a consensus during a game as a form of computation.

Building on this concept, Ray discussed the potential for deep neural networks and agent-based reinforcement learning to perform computations collectively within the Bitcoin blockchain. He pointed out new developments like BITVM, which enables off-chain Turing complete computation to be verified on Bitcoin.

Ray introduced his thesis of Bitcoin and AI as “The Undiscovered Country,” envisioning a future where machines, not humans, drive the ultimate use case of Bitcoin in technological progress.

Ray explained, “The Bitcoin Research Institute aims to bridge the gap between Bitcoin and AI, uniting the brightest minds in these fields to push the boundaries of innovation.”

Ray also highlighted the potential of Chaumin mints for scaling bitcoin payments and the importance of secure prediction markets enabled by Bitcoin in shaping more efficient insurance and financial products.

Ray emphasized the impact of past academic achievements in computer science, suggesting that Bitcoin and AI will continue this legacy of research to drive innovation across all sectors.
